Additionally, the Besisi believe that the mushroom is easier to be found after a full moon.

The story “Indra Bangsawan” stated that it was used as a remedy for a princess who lost her vision due to an eye disease while the Mughal emperor, Jahangir has also documented its use, praising its ability to brighten one’s eyesight.

It is also well known among the various tribes of Orang Asli Malaysia (the Semai, Temuan, Jakun) that Tiger Milk Mushrooms are effective in several other medical conditions. Namely, relieving asthma, cough, food poisoning, swollen breasts, joint pain, liver illness, swollen body parts and also used as a general tonic. It is also sometimes used to support women during the postpartum period after childbirth and to alleviate hunger.

In the early years, Tiger Milk Mushrooms were utilized in various ways. They were pounded and infused with water as a tonic, ground or sliced to be boiled for drinking, or soaked in Chinese wine for external applications. Additionally, they could be eaten raw with betel leaves to alleviate coughs and sore throats.
